FOX & GEMINI Metal Oxide Sensors Electronic Noses

By analyzing products headspace (volatile compounds emitted by the product), these instruments perform an overall fingerprinting of the odor profile. They use several cross-selective gas sensors of different types to detect a wide range of volatile compounds.

GEMINI Electronic Nose integrates a bespoke array of 6 sensors specifically selected for the quality control of a product.

FOX Electronic Nose, which can integrate up to 18 different sensors, can address several applications for product development or quality control analyses.

To automate sample incubation, headspace generation, collection and injection, Electronic Nose analyzers can be coupled to autosamplers instead of using manual injection. Additionnally, these autosamplers can be further equipped with a variety of devices for extracting or concentrating volatile organic compounds before analysis.

MOS Electronic Nose detection technology

Electronic Noses detect and measure volatile organic compounds, whether or not they are an odorant. The Electronic Noses from Alpha MOS use various technologies, among which Metal Oxide Sensors.

When volatile compounds are adsorbed onto the surface of the semiconductors this generates a change in the electrical resistance which varies with the type of volatile compound and its concentration. As instruments can include up to 18 cross-selective sensors, the range of solid, liquid or gas samples that can be analyzed is broad.
